Just two years later, in 2005, Kingda Ka took the fastest and tallest records away from Top Thrill Dragster, increasing the height by 36 feet (10 m), and increasing the speed by 8 miles per hour (12 kmh), therefore making Kingda Ka 456 feet (138 m) tall, and 128 miles per hour (205 kmh.) Kingda Ka has the same design layout as Top Thrill Dragster and Red Force, except for the 129 foot (39 m) airtime hill directly after the gigantic drop. Kingda Ka, which is 3,118 feet (950 m) long, remains the tallest coaster in the world since 2005, and is located in Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey.
Rollercoasters are constantly upgrading, being modified in design, and most of all, evolving, so this list could change at any moment. The height record hasn’t been beat since 2005, and the speed record hasn’t been broken since 2010. Who knows when we will have a new record holder, it could be any day now.
